In a tragic incident in Vrindavan, two sanitation workers lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas during a sewer cleaning operation. The families of the deceased, identified as Narendra and Chhotelal, have been promised Rs 30 lakh each as compensation, as per the Supreme Court's mandate.
The incident unfolded in the Keshav Dham area when the workers were cleaning a private guesthouse's sewer. Hired by contractor Amit at the behest of guesthouse manager Hemant, the workers ignored safety protocols, leading to their untimely demise.
Authorities have taken swift action, arresting both the guesthouse manager and contractor on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Further investigations are being conducted to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
