India and South Africa have strengthened their defence ties by exchanging two agreements focused on submarine cooperation. In a pivotal move to bolster defence cooperation, India and South Africa signed two critical agreements related to submarine collaboration. This was announced during a key meeting in Johannesburg, underscoring both nations' commitment to strengthening bilateral defence ties, according to India's defence ministry.
The Indian delegation, led by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, participated in the 9th Joint Defence Committee (JDC) meeting. South Africa's Acting Secretary for Defence, Thobekile Gamede, spearheaded the South African team. The discussions, held on June 23-24, focused on enhancing mutual defence interests and capabilities.
Throughout the meeting, Singh praised the historic relations between India and South Africa, expressing satisfaction with their progress in defence collaboration. The delegation highlighted India's growing defence manufacturing prowess, reaffirming the nations' commitment to future cooperative ventures.
