The Union Home Ministry has approved an Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) investigation against former Delhi health ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Satyendar Jain. The investigation, initiated under the Prevention of Corruption Act, follows allegations of misconduct and corruption regarding delays in hospital projects.
A complaint by BJP's Vijender Gupta last year prompted scrutiny, with claims of inflated project costs and fund misallocation causing significant government financial loss. The vigilance department noted that improper planning and inaccurate cost estimates resulted in increased expenses beyond the original budget.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dismissed these allegations, suggesting political motivation behind them. AAP cited similar delays in central projects as overlooked by the BJP, raising questions about the fairness and consistency of such corruption probes across political lines.
