On Tuesday, Manipur Police successfully dismantled an inter-state gang of arms dealers, arresting four individuals associated with the unlawful trade. An officer confirmed that the group operated in the greater Imphal area, smuggling unauthorised arms across state lines with clandestine precision.
A comprehensive raid resulted in the seizure of a cache of weapons, including multiple pistols such as Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, and Glock models, along with a significant haul of live ammunition. Wireless sets were also confiscated, showcasing the group's sophisticated operations.
In a related operation, authorities captured three additional UNLF members in Imphal West district on Tuesday, implicating them in extortion schemes to secure government contracts. A further arrest was made in Thoubal district, curbing extortion activities linked to UNLF (Ningolmacha).
