Bikram Singh Majithia, a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal and former minister, reported that his residence was raided by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday. The alleged raid is linked to an ongoing investigation into a 2021 drug case against Majithia.
While no official confirmation has been issued by the Vigilance Bureau, Majithia's family claims a team of 30 officials entered their home without providing any explanation. A video shared by Majithia on X shows individuals purportedly from the Bureau at his house in Amritsar.
Majithia asserts that the raid is politically motivated, accusing the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, of preparing false charges against him after failing to find evidence in the drug case. Previously arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Majithia was released on bail in August 2022.
