Two masked men opened fire outside a hotel on National Highway 44 in Haryana's Kurukshetra district Thursday morning, as confirmed by local police. No injuries were reported from the incident, which took place around 5 a.m., just five kilometers from Shahabad Markanda.
The assailants, riding a motorcycle, fired between 10 to 15 rounds, briefly entered the hotel, left a note at the reception, and continued shooting outside prior to their escape. Superintendent of Police Nitish Aggarwal assured that significant leads have been obtained through an extensive review of 60-70 CCTV cameras, with eight police teams actively pursuing the case.
Opposition parties accused the BJP government of failing to maintain law and order, citing the recent killing of a liquor contractor and a wanted criminal as examples. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently chaired a high-level meeting to emphasize zero tolerance for crime.
