A 32-year-old man was apprehended by police for masquerading as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Mumbai. His deception included residing in a Customs' guest house and traversing the city in a car sporting a 'Government of India' nameplate, according to official sources.

Identified as Chandramohan Singh from Bihar, the imposter exploited his fraudulent identity to claim occupancy at the Customs' facility by pretending to be an employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the officials disclosed.

Singh's facade began to unravel after a traffic violation led to him escaping under the guise of an IAS officer. Acting on insider information, authorities cornered Singh at a Mumbai hotel, discovering him with forged identification. Consequently, he was arrested and charged under pertinent legal statutes.
