A businessman burdened by debt allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison along with his wife and minor daughter in Lucknow's Ashrafabad area, police officials reported.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava stated that Shobhit Rastogi, aged 48, his wife Suchita Rastogi, 44, and daughter Khyati Rastogi, 16, succumbed after being rushed to the Trauma Centre at King George Medical University. Despite efforts to save them, doctors declared the family deceased.
A bottle of sulphas was recovered at the scene, and investigation points towards financial distress from a bank loan as a significant factor in this tragic event.
