Tragedy struck Muzaffarnagar district as an 80-year-old woman died on Monday when her house collapsed during severe rainfall, officials confirmed. Authorities are on high alert as the Ganga river nears a critical level, creating a tense situation across the region.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nikita Sharma reported that multiple houses were damaged in separate parts of the district. The deceased, identified as Bharto from Chapra village, was among those affected. Sharma assured that financial assistance will be provided to her family, with revenue officials assessing the situation closely.
As flood outposts remain vigilant, the residents of approximately twelve low-lying villages are advised to stay away from riverbanks. Jansath SDM Jayendra Singh confirmed alerts have been issued to villages including Jivanpura, Rampur, and others due to rising river levels.
