On June 30, the Supreme Court made significant decisions in several high-profile cases. The court dismissed an appeal by former cricket administrator Lalit Modi, who sought to compel the BCCI to pay a penalty of Rs 10.65 crore imposed upon him by the Enforcement Directorate for FEMA violations.
In another key ruling, the Supreme Court declined to consider a challenge against the vires of the Bodh Gaya Temple Act of 1949, advising the petitioner to seek redress in the appropriate high court.
Additionally, the court provided interim protection from arrest to MLA M Jagan Moorthy, involving a case related to an alleged kidnapping of a minor.
