Pakistan has urged India to resume the normal functioning of the Indus Waters Treaty, which has been suspended since May. The appeal follows a ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, indicating the treaty remains "valid and operational."

India, however, has consistently rejected the arbitration proceedings initiated by Pakistan over disputes concerning certain design elements of the Kishenganga and Ratle hydropower projects. The Ministry of External Affairs stated India does not recognize the framework for dispute resolution.

Following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India took punitive measures against Pakistan, including holding the treaty in abeyance. Pakistan's Foreign Office, however, insists the Court of Arbitration's ruling supports its stance that the treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended by India.
