The Allahabad High Court has turned down a bail request from Ansar Ahmed Siddique, charged with sharing a Facebook post carrying the inflammatory slogan 'Pakistan zindabad'.

The court highlighted a concerning trend, where judicial leniency in cases with anti-national elements is contributing to a spike in such incidents.

Justice Siddhartha, in rebutting Siddique's plea, stated that this case exemplifies a growing trend of trivializing acts that threaten the fabric of national unity. Despite Siddique being a senior citizen, his bail was denied due to the grave implications of his conduct.

The allegations against Siddique, particularly the appeal to incite 'jihad' and support 'Pakistani brothers', strike at the core of national sovereignty and unity, thus breaching Indian constitutional ideals.

Representatives of Uttar Pradesh's state counsel argued Siddique's actions post the Pahalgam terror attack further underscore his endorsement of anti-national activities, swaying the court to deny bail.

The court accordingly ruled that Siddique's trial ought to proceed without delay, emphasizing citizens' constitutional duty to uphold national integrity and sovereignty.
