In a significant drug bust, police in Navi Mumbai have apprehended two men from Punjab, seizing heroin valued at Rs 1.05 lakh. The operation unfolded based on a strategic tip-off, leading to the suspects' capture near a construction site in the Panvel area late Sunday night.
Senior Inspector Nitin Thakre from Panvel City police station revealed that the accused, identified as Satnam Singh Sukhdev Singh and Sukhwinder Singh Muknar Singh, were allegedly in possession of 35 gm of heroin, packaged in ball and stone forms. The individuals hail from Tarn Taran in Punjab.
The arrests were made under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as Thakre noted the detainees had intended to distribute the drugs illegally. Preliminary investigations suggest their involvement in a broader drug distribution network, with further inquiries underway to trace additional connections.
