The AIADMK has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the custodial death of Ajithkumar in Sivaganga, citing a decline in public confidence in the state police force.
AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin, referring to the leader's actions as a 'drama' and questioning the integrity of the post-mortem results, which documented numerous injuries on Ajithkumar's body. Palaniswami labeled the incident a 'murder' resulting from police misconduct.
Public and political dissatisfaction has grown, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay demanding a separate Special Investigation Team for the case. In response, the Tamil Nadu government has taken administrative actions, placing the district police chief on 'compulsory wait' and arresting five officers involved in the incident.
