A Danish man, identified only as Ali S, has been arrested in Denmark on suspicion of espionage for Iranian intelligence. Accused of gathering information on Jewish sites and people in Berlin, prosecutors suggest that the operation might have been a precursor to attacks on Jewish targets.

Ali S allegedly spied on several properties in June, which German prosecutors claim could indicate a planning phase for further intelligence or terrorist activities. German Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig described the potential espionage as an 'outrageous operation' should suspicions be confirmed, and emphasized that protecting Jewish communities remains a top priority.

The arrest followed information from Germany's domestic intelligence service, and Ali S could face extradition to Germany. Germany maintains a complex relationship with Iran, balancing its alliance with Israel and efforts to diplomatically engage Iran over nuclear issues. Recently, Germany closed Iranian Consulates due to tensions over an execution by Tehran.
