Former Russian Deputy Defence Minister Timur Ivanov has been sentenced to 13 years behind bars after being found guilty of corruption, according to state news agency TASS.

Ivanov, who was taken into custody in April 2024 on bribery charges, saw new charges of embezzlement added by investigators in October.

This conviction is part of a broader crackdown on corruption within the Russian defense ministry, which has seen more than a dozen officials, including two more former deputy ministers, detained for similar offences.
