A seemingly quiet birthday celebration turned tragic early Tuesday in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, when a speeding car crashed into a roadside eatery. This horrific accident claimed the life of a 34-year-old man and injured three others, including his girlfriend, the police reported.
Ajitpal from Faradpur village, Bulandshahr district, had taken his girlfriend Akanksha for a birthday celebration at the popular Raja Ji dhaba in Hapur. After dinner and cake-cutting, the couple stepped out for a stroll when the car, allegedly speeding, lost control and struck them, according to police accounts.
Ajitpal was killed instantly due to the impact, while Akanksha and two bystanders sustained serious injuries. Authorities have seized the car and are actively searching for the driver. Official investigations are underway as a case has been registered, police said.
