The Punjab government has accused the BJP-led Centre of interfering in a high-profile drug case involving Bikram Singh Majithia, a prominent Akali leader. Punjab Minister Aman Arora claimed that the Narcotics Control Bureau's request for case records aims to weaken the allegations.
Majithia was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on June 25 on charges of money laundering linked to Rs 540 crore of alleged drug money. The Bureau has sought joint interrogation and documents from the case to aid their investigation.
Arora criticized both the Congress and BJP for their alleged 'hypocrisy' in defending Majithia rather than tackling drug issues in Punjab. He reaffirmed the state government's commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, to eradicate drug abuse.
