Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has ordered a CBI investigation into the controversial custodial death of a 29-year-old man in Sivaganga, which has caused widespread outrage across the state.
Ajithkumar, who tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances during police interrogation, was allegedly assaulted by officers, prompting Stalin to declare such actions as unjustifiable and inexcusable in an official statement.
In response to the unfolding situation, six policemen were initially suspended, followed by the arrest of five on murder charges. The district SP faces a waiting period, and a DSP was suspended. Despite the Madras High Court permitting a CB-CID probe, Stalin seeks CBI involvement to dispel doubts surrounding the investigation, assuring full state cooperation with federal authorities.
