A special court has denied interim bail to Ramesh Murlidhar Gaichor, an activist embroiled in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case. The decision was made on Tuesday as the court found his father's health condition not serious following medical report evaluations.
Judicial authorities, citing medical documents, indicated the symptoms noted were common among older adults and not life-threatening, leading to the conclusion that the application was made on emotional grounds rather than urgent medical necessity.
Gaichor, in custody since September 2020, had requested bail to visit his ailing father. However, the court, presided over by Special Judge Chakor Baviskar, criticized the validity of the claim and highlighted the activist's attempt to leverage previously liberal bail grants for a non-urgent cause.
