Abubacker Siddique, a notorious figure in south India's terrorist landscape, was apprehended by the Tamil Nadu Anti-Terrorism Squad after evading capture for three decades. Police officials confirmed his arrest from a hideout in Andhra Pradesh, marking the end of a prolonged pursuit.
Siddique has been linked to numerous high-profile terror attacks, including the 1995 bombing of the Hindu Munnani office and various coordinated explosives in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Kerala. His capture was facilitated by intelligence inputs and collaborative efforts with central agencies.
His alleged accomplice, Mohammed Ali, who had been on the run for 26 years, was also detained. Both fugitives are accused of orchestrating multiple bombings and communal murders. Following their arrests, they are scheduled to be presented before a judicial magistrate for proceedings.
