An Estonian court has declared that Russian intelligence was behind arson attacks on a restaurant and supermarket within its borders, executed by two Moldovan men involved in a larger scheme aiming to destabilize Western alliances. This revelation underscores Moscow's efforts to fault leadership and weaken Ukraine's backing.
The Harju County Court ruled on the involvement of the Moldovan cousins, Ivan Chihaial, who executed these sacrilegious acts under orders from Russian military intelligence, GRU. The duo received sentences of 6.5 years and 2.5 years in prison, respectively, as the investigation reveals Russia's surreptitious activities via unorthodox means.
This incident follows a series of attacks across Europe, highlighting varied sabotage techniques, from cyberattacks to physical destruction, allegedly employed by Russian operatives. While Russia officially denies such accusations, regional courts have delineated detailed involvement, fueling international tensions over the Kremlin's geopolitical strategies.
