From Capitol Chaos to Life Sentencing: A Turn of Events for Edward Kelley

Edward Kelley, involved in the January 6 Capitol attack, was sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to kill FBI agents probing his activities, according to the U.S. Justice Department and court documents.

In November, Kelley was convicted of plotting to murder federal employees, soliciting violence, and threatening an official. Prosecutors said he and an accomplice intended to bomb an FBI office in Knoxville, Tennessee. Recorded conversations revealed plans to attack the office if he faced arrest, the Justice Department stated.

Kelley reportedly crafted a list of federal law enforcement targets and discussed assassinating FBI staff in homes and public areas. Austin Carter, his accomplice, pleaded guilty and faces sentencing in August. Despite seeking clemency linked to his Capitol role, Kelley's pardon appeal was denied by a judge.
