A Russian drone attack on Thursday night ignited a fire atop a 16-storey apartment block in a northern Kyiv suburb, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city's military administration.
"Enemy drones are over Kyiv. Our defenses are engaged to neutralize the threat," Tkachenko announced on Telegram.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged medical teams to respond to the blaze in the Obolon district. Reuters correspondents observed air defense units active in multiple districts around the capital.
