The Maharashtra government has informed the Supreme Court of its progress on the new Bombay High Court complex in Bandra. Out of 17.45 acres designated for the project, 15.33 acres have already been secured.
An apex court bench, led by Chief Justice B R Gavai, was briefed on the clearance of slums from the site, with ongoing negotiations for the relocation of remaining structures. Further steps, such as architect appointments and budget approvals, have been undertaken.
The project aims to provide modern courtrooms, judges' chambers, and various facilities to address the space and safety issues of the 150-year-old structure. The next hearing is set for October 27.
