The Maharashtra government is currently evaluating the Bombay High Court's ruling that acquitted all 12 accused in the notorious 7/11 Mumbai train blasts before reaching a decision on a possible appeal to the Supreme Court, according to state minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
In the 2006 incident, a series of bombings on Mumbai's local trains killed over 180 individuals, marking a dark day in the city's history. The recent acquittal by the High Court pointed out a significant lack of conclusive evidence presented by the prosecution, questioning the efficacy of the initial investigation.
State authorities, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, are considering employing top legal experts to potentially rectify previous investigative shortcomings. The decision follows appeals from former MPs and victims' families for a renewed inquiry into the tragic event.
