Delhi Government Overhauls Welfare Schemes to Ensure Genuine Beneficiaries

In a significant policy overhaul, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a comprehensive review of all existing welfare schemes. The move is aimed at ensuring assistance reaches only those who genuinely qualify, with ineligible individuals set to be removed from beneficiary lists.

Gupta chaired a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, attended by senior officials from the Department of Social Welfare and the Department for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The meeting focused on reassessing ongoing schemes designed to uplift economically and socially marginalized communities, according to an official statement.

The chief minister emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the poor and vulnerable. She also announced the initiative to digitize identity cards for persons with disabilities, aiming to improve transparency and accountability in the welfare system.
