The Supreme Court on Monday nullified the bail of a former superintendent from a state-run women's protection home, citing allegations of sexual exploitation and mental torture as reasons for the decision.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta highlighted that the individual, entrusted to protect the home's residents, had exploited her position, turning from a 'saviour' to a 'devil'. The court acted on the plea from a survivor belonging to a scheduled caste, overturning an earlier Patna High Court decision.

The bench noted that the allegations, which include the administration of stupefying substances and facilitating sexual favours for influential outsiders, were grave enough to affect the trial adversely. Consequently, the court cancelled the bail, underscoring the necessity to protect the survivors and uphold justice.
