In a significant security operation, a couple arriving from Dubai was intercepted at the Surat airport for allegedly smuggling over 20 kg of gold paste concealed under their clothing, according to officials.
The incident unfolded around 10 pm on July 20 when Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intelligence officers, observing a peculiar walking pattern in the travelers, raised an alert.
Subsequent checks by Customs revealed 28 kg of gold paste strapped to the midsections of the duo, marking it the largest haul in Surat airport's history and underscoring the effectiveness of behavioral profiling and interdepartmental synergy in thwarting smuggling attempts.
