Witkoff's Diplomatic Push: Hope for Peace in Gaza?
Steve Witkoff, U.S. Middle East envoy, is set to engage in crucial discussions in Europe aiming for a ceasefire in Gaza amid ongoing conflict. His meetings with Israeli and Qatari officials could pave the way for a 60-day truce brokered with Qatar and Egypt, as the humanitarian crisis worsens.

Steve Witkoff, the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, is making a significant diplomatic push this week, traveling to Europe to engage in critical talks concerning Israel's conflict in Gaza. U.S. officials disclosed on Tuesday that Witkoff's mission will primarily focus on securing a ceasefire in the troubled Palestinian enclave.
According to a report by Axios, Witkoff is slated to arrive in Rome on Thursday, after departing on Wednesday, for discussions involving Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and a senior envoy from Qatar. If the discussions are fruitful, arrangements will see Witkoff moving from Rome to Doha to finalize a ceasefire agreement by the week's end.
The talks, crucial amid escalating violence, are part of a broader initiative led by Qatar and Egypt, with Washington's support, for a proposed 60-day truce between Israel and Hamas. The humanitarian toll in Gaza is rising daily, amplifying international calls for conflict resolution.
