The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a sub-postmaster in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, over allegations of bribery. The official was caught red-handed accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe, following a complaint filed on July 21.
The complaint specified that the sub-postmaster, stationed at Manoharpur sub-post office, demanded a staggering Rs 1,18,000 in bribes. This amount was reportedly 20 percent of the RD commission and 75 percent of the SAS commission.
After negotiations, an agreement for an initial payment of Rs 20,000 was reached. The CBI's swift action led to the arrest of the accused during the transaction, and the matter remains under investigation.
