A man on the run after allegedly attacking a female receptionist at a hospital in Maharashtra's Thane district was apprehended and is now in police custody, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The assault took place on Monday evening at Shree Bal Chikitsalaya, Kalyan East. The accused, Gokul Jha, was alleged to be infuriated when the receptionist did not allow him and his companion to bypass the line and meet the doctor. Jha physically attacked the receptionist, a scene that was caught on video before he fled the site.
Authorities have charged Jha under several legal provisions, including assault and using obscene language. His apprehension comes after locals detained him and delivered him to the police. Officers are now delving into his motives and any potential links to other criminal activities, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende.
