In a major crackdown, Lokayukta officials on Wednesday executed searches at the premises related to eight government officers, among them an IAS officer, Vasanthi Amar B.V., in a case involving disproportionate assets.

Vasanthi Amar, connected with the Railway Infrastructure Development Company in Karnataka, served as Special Deputy Commissioner and oversaw land acquisitions for the Bengaluru Sub-urban Railway Project. The project faces delays due to halted land acquisition, exacerbating tensions with the contractor firm.

Several other targeted officials come from diverse administrative backgrounds, including Manjunathaswamy M. of the Skill Development Department, B Venkatarama of Mysuru Mahanagara Palike, and Rajesh M. of KIADB, among others, illustrating the widespread corruption suspicions.
