Authorities have arrested three individuals accused of using hypnosis to deceive women and steal their valuables in Ranhola, as revealed by an official source on Wednesday.

The suspects, Laxman (50), his wife, and their daughter-in-law, allegedly preyed on women adorned with gold in busy marketplaces. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma, the female members would befriend these women, using misdirection techniques with fake currency bundles to create an illusion of wealth. While the victims were distracted, the gang stole their jewelry before making their escape.

The trio, observed behaving suspiciously near the Sai Baba Mandir on Nala Road in Vikas Nagar on July 21, was intercepted by police before they could flee. During initial questioning, they admitted to defrauding a woman on July 17, leading to a case registration on July 18 at the Ranhola Police Station. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen items and identify receivers of the illicit goods.
