Two police officers and two villagers were injured during a violent clash in Dasuya sub-division, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, officials reported on Wednesday.
The altercation broke out late Tuesday night following a drug-related complaint received by the Dasuya police on helpline number 112, according to Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Dr Mukesh Kumar.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Sarabjit Singh led a police team to investigate the complaint in Budhu Barkat village, where they encountered resistance leading to a physical altercation. Police opened fire in self-defense, injuring two villagers. An FIR has been filed, and an investigation is ongoing.
