Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army, recently visited Sri Lanka, marking a significant move towards enhancing bilateral defence relations. He met with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Aruna Jayasekara, to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The dialogues, part of his official visit, focused on various aspects of defence collaboration, particularly capacity building and exchanging best practices. Both parties underscored the importance of preparedness and resilience, especially in response to natural disasters.
During his visit, Raza also met with Defence Ministry Secretary Sampath Thuyacontha, where Sri Lankan officials appreciated Pakistan's enduring support in providing military training to Sri Lankan personnel. The discussions also highlighted the April Sri Lanka–Pakistan Bilateral Defence Dialogue in Islamabad, underscoring its role in fostering defence partnerships.
