India is resuming the issuance of tourist visas to Chinese nationals, marking a significant step in mending the diplomatic rift caused by prior military conflicts. This decision comes after the 2020 suspension due to both the pandemic and a border dispute.
The Indian embassy in Beijing has confirmed that Chinese citizens may begin applying for tourist visas from Thursday, detailing application procedures at centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Diplomatic efforts have intensified recently, notably with conversations between India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese officials.
These discussions underscore a mutual desire for normalized relations that could yield beneficial outcomes for both nations. Efforts such as the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra indicate a commitment to improving ties, following the resolution of tensions along the Line of Actual Control last year.
