In a significant political development, the Chief Election Commissioner assured the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) that a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will take place across all states, focusing on Tripura. TMP leader Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma emphasized the need for this revision amid rising fears of illegal immigration.
The assurance followed a crucial meeting in New Delhi, where a TMP delegation engaged with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Aligning with the BJP-led coalition in Tripura, TMP's demand for an electoral overhaul aims to curb potential infiltration issues and ensure accurate voter representation in the state.
Debbarma warned that continuing unchecked immigration could threaten Tiprasa (indigenous) people's survival in their own land, risking national security. TMP has urged the EC to detect and deport illegal immigrants, seeking serious action to protect Tripura's integrity and cultural heritage.
