In a significant boost to the judiciary, three new judges were sworn into the Delhi High Court on Thursday, bringing the court's strength to 43. Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya administered the oath of office to Justices Vinod Kumar, Shail Jain, and Madhu Jain.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on the court's premises, with all three judges taking their oath in Hindi. This appointment follows the recommendation from the Supreme Court collegium spearheaded by Chief Justice of India B R Gavai, which suggested the elevation of these judicial officers.
The newly sworn-in judges were serving as principal district and sessions judges at various trial courts in Delhi before their elevation. Their appointments were officially notified by the Centre on July 22. This development follows the induction of six other judges on July 21, further strengthening Delhi's judicial system.
