In a shocking case from Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district, a trial court has sentenced a 26-year-old man to death for the murder of his adoptive mother. The accused, Deepak Pachauri, killed Usha Devi in a bid to usurp her fixed deposits valued at Rs 32 lakh.
Additional Sessions Judge L D Solanki, presiding over the case, found Pachauri guilty under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The court emphasized the gravity of the crime, noting the sacred status of a mother in Indian tradition.
The gruesome incident took place on May 6, 2024, when Pachauri failed to gain financial support from his mother and resorted to violence. Confession during interrogation and forensic evidence led to a swift judgment in what has been described as a reprehensible act of filicidal greed.
