The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have taken a significant step in combating digital crime with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Cyber Crime Investigation Centre. Directed by H G S Dhaliwal, the centre aims to prevent cybercrime in the archipelago through advanced technology and a quick-response team.

According to Jitendra Kumar Meena, the Senior Superintendent of Police (CID), the new unit features a dedicated helpline (1930) where victims can report incidents, ranging from online fraud to social media abuse. A team of trained personnel will operate the centre, ensuring victims receive prompt and effective solutions.

This initiative comes on the heels of a state-of-the-art chatbot launch, which helps the public engage with law enforcement to combat cyber threats. By facilitating the reporting of issues such as spam calls and stolen phones, authorities aim to build a safer digital environment for residents.
