Parliamentary Probe into Allegations Against Judge During Hectic Deliberations

Parliament is moving forward with plans to form an inquiry committee to investigate allegations against Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Varma. Sources indicate that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will announce the formation of the committee soon.

The parliamentary process commenced following the submission of notices by 152 MPs and an additional 63 from the opposition. The committee will include senior judicial figures such as the Chief Justice of India or a Supreme Court judge, a high court chief justice, and a distinguished jurist.

Amid these developments, Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha J P Nadda, and key parliamentary figures are engaged in deliberations. The situation has escalated following the resignation of Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who cited health reasons.
