Indonesia has issued a forceful denunciation of the Israeli Parliament's recent symbolic motion aimed at annexing the occupied West Bank.
In a statement released by Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Ministry, the government stressed that Israel has no legitimate claim to sovereignty over the Palestinian territories and that such unilateral actions fail to alter the region's legal status. The statement declared this move as an act of annexation, infringing upon the core principle of non-acquisition of territory by force.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry further reiterated its unwavering support for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, naming East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Two-State Solution. Although the Israeli Knesset's motion, passed on Wednesday, lacks direct legal impact, its introduction is seen as potentially paving the way for future annexation debates. Indonesia called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to implement decisive actions against what it deems Israel's illegal endeavors to cement its occupation.
