The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made arrests in a bribery case within the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), nabbing two employees, including a senior officer, for allegedly taking a Rs 20,000 bribe from a sanitary worker, authorities confirmed on Friday.

The arrests occurred during a meticulously planned operation by the ACB on Thursday. The investigation is under the charge of Police Inspector Anupama Khare. An FIR concerning the matter was lodged with the MFC Police station in Kalyan on July 24, invoking sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Inspector Khare revealed that the bribe demand was made by Chief Sanitary Officer Vasant Deglurkar, following the sanitary worker's return post-medical leave. Failing to pay the whole amount requested, the worker was advised by a colleague, Sudarshan Jadhav, to pay in instalments. This led to the ACB setting a trap, resulting in both Deglurkar and Jadhav's arrests.
