A 30-year-old man identified as Pawan Kumar Chauhan has been apprehended for allegedly hitting a National Security Guard personnel with his vehicle in Delhi's R K Puram area, following reports that he fell asleep at the wheel.
The incident, which occurred early on July 9, saw the victim, while on his morning walk, being struck by Chauhan's car. The accused, returning from Haridwar with his family, overlooked the warnings of his family and fled the scene to avoid legal complications.
Authorities engaged in a rigorous chase, analyzing over 100 CCTV camera footages between Delhi and Noida, eventually leading to Chauhan's arrest on July 24 at his residence in Rajokari. He faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for reckless driving and endangering personal safety.
