The Karnataka government's Special Investigation Team (SIT) has initiated a thorough investigation into alleged mass burial sites in Dharmasthala. The SIT, joined by local law enforcement and district officials, commenced site inspections on Monday.
These efforts include visits to multiple significant sites, such as the bathing ghats of the Nethravati river at Dharmasthala's entrance. Land records authorities are also part of the team aiding this investigative process.
This investigation stems from complaints by local groups who allege that portions of the land have potentially been misused for mass burials. As part of their initial proceedings, the SIT, along with the Kadaba Tahsildar, conducted a 'mahazar' or preliminary site inspection at the riverbank.
