In rural Patna, a surprising administrative error saw a residence certificate issued in favor of a stray dog known as 'Dog babu'. Born to 'kutta babu' and 'kutiya devi', the canine's registration raised eyebrows and questions about Bihar's document verification processes.
The erroneous certificate resulted from a rush of applications during Bihar's intensive revision of electoral rolls. The district administration swiftly canceled the certificate once the error surfaced and filed an FIR against those involved in the blunder.
An investigation revealed the use of a Delhi resident's Aadhaar in the application process. Consequently, disciplinary actions were taken, including termination of the computer operator and recommended suspension of the official responsible for issuing the certificate.
