The Supreme Court has issued a notice regarding YouTuber Savukku Shankar's appeal after the Madras High Court refused his request for a CBI investigation into financial irregularities under Tamil Nadu's Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme (AABCS).
Shankar claims large-scale misappropriation of funds meant for scheduled caste entrepreneurs and sanitation workers. His plea alleges unlawful government outsourcing and political interference, benefiting ineligible individuals. His counsel informed the court that Shankar's house was vandalized post-filing the plea.
The Madras High Court declined a CBI probe, arguing it could disrupt ongoing state police work. It instructed authorities to complete their investigation and submit a report within 12 weeks. Shankar's legal battles include a past conviction for contempt of court, underscoring the contentious nature of his allegations.
