The mortal remains of Ganesh Karmali, a migrant worker tragically killed in a terrorist attack in Niger, were brought back to his hometown of Jharkhand's Bokaro district on Monday, authorities confirmed.

Karmali, aged 39 and from Dhaniya village, perished during gunfire between police forces and terrorists on July 15 in Dosso, Niger, according to official statements.

Bringing Karmali's body back faced delays due to the necessary formalities. He was employed with Transrail Lighting Limited, and Bokaro's Labour Superintendent, Ranji Kumar, revealed plans for a Rs 50 lakh compensation from the company. The state government is also set to assist with Rs 5 lakh under a migrant worker security scheme.
