A daring heist took place at an SBI bank branch in Thumukunta village, Sri Sathyasai district, Andhra Pradesh. Burglars made off with 10 kg of gold and Rs 38 lakh in cash, exploiting the branch's lack of a nighttime security guard.

According to Hindupur sub-divisional police officer KV Mahesh, the crime occurred at 2 am on Sunday and was discovered by police on Monday. Surveillance footage showed a suspect inside the bank, who then destroyed the system, leading police to suspect other accomplices joined later.

The branch had been warned about its security shortcomings three months prior, yet they went unaddressed. With a poorly secured window and no watchman for four years, the thieves had easy access. Police have launched an investigation to catch those responsible.
